MEET THE TEAM
Our Musical Director, Tracey Bailey has been passionate about singing for as long
as she can remember. Laying the foundations of her career in Barbershop at
the tender age of 17, she has performed all of her life, coming together with a
number of other talented women to make music. She tells us her proudest
moment was when she won Gold competing with the members of her quartet in
Sweet Adeline’s International; they went on to represent the UK in America.
Over a period of 30 years, as a member of Champagne Chorus, she progressed
from singer to Director. With a strong desire to embrace more contemporary
music, in 2015, Tracey founded Acappella Sound, where she offers an eclectic mix
of Acappella and modern Barbershop songs.
Our Assistant Musical Director Lauren Bailey has been singing barbershop since she was 5 years old and competing since the age of 11. Having been around barbershop for a long time she has been a section leader since the start of Acappella Sound and is now our Assistant Musical Director. Laurens proudest barbershop moment to date is singing in the Rising Star contest with Ultraviolet Quartet where they placed 6th.
Assistant Musical Director
Jane Watts is our new Team Leader, and is responsible for the wellbeing of
the group and assists Tracey with the day to day organisation. At Acappella
Sound, it is important to us that our singers feel they have a voice as we develop
and grow our chorus and that we offer a genuinely collaborative experience.
Sharing laughter, learning together and supporting each other without exception,
is the secret to maintaining our happy and upbeat chorus. Since Jane joined Acappella Sound she has been involved with the management team, serving as costume lead until recently when Jane was voted in as team leader.
Karen Looker is our Chorus Secretary, responsible for all non-financial
administration tasks, for distributing important Chorus information and the
keeper of our records. She provides order and clear communication which is
essential to help us thrive.
Penny Whittle is our financial administrator; she ensures all of our subs are collected
and safely banked, that our bills are paid and our financial records professionally
maintained. Penny collects all funds raised by our amazing team and maintains a
savings account for those who want to put some funds aside regularly to cover
competition event expenses .
Liz Rutherford fastidiously collects and collates the personal details of all our
members and creates and updates the communications list which enables us to
contact each other when we need to. She also assists Jane in welcoming
newcomers and making them feel right at home.
